Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) announced today that the Montero Sport(Pajero Sport in some markets*1), the company’s new mid-size SUV manufactured at Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd, has been awarded a maximum 5-star rating for adult occupant protection in the 2015 Latin NCAP*2.
The Latin NCAP is an assessment program for the new car automobile models launched in Latin American and the Caribbean region evaluating overall safety of a vehicle. Countries in the Latin NCAP include Brazil, Chile, Peru, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region*3. The rating is determined based on the results from offset frontal and side impact tests as well as evaluation on safety performances of safety equipment including seatbelt reminder.
The same model known as the Pajero Sport in Australia has also received the highest 5-star rating in ANCAP*4. This means the superior safety performance of the MMC’s latest mid-size SUV has been proven in many countries internationally.
The all-new Montero Sport began its sales in Thailand on October 2015, followed by other ASEAN countries, Latin America, Oceania, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia. In Latin America, the model was launched first in Panama on December 11, and sequentially will be followed by Chile, Peru, and Colombia.
