It hasn’t even officially debuted yet, but the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is undoubtedly one of the hottest new vehicles of this year. And your local Jeep dealer is already able to put in its allocation for the next-generation 4×4.
Fan site JL Wrangler Forums reports that Jeep dealerships have begun requesting their allocations for the all-new Wrangler, which is set to begin production later this year after its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. A knowledgeable insider confirmed to Road & Track that dealer ordering has opened.
Dealer allocation is a little different from customer ordering. As of today, dealers are only able to submit “top line information” in their request to Jeep—i.e., the number of 2018 Wranglers they’d like to receive when the first shipment goes out. You can’t walk into your local Jeep shop today and specify the color, trim package, and options on a special-order Wrangler; that will come later, likely when the vehicle makes its official debut.
Still: If you absolutely can’t wait to stake your claim on a brand-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, starting today you can let your dealer know you’re interested. The more dealers with customers who raise their hands now, the more Wranglers those shops will receive.
