If we had to pick our favorite hot hatchback, it would easily be the Renault Megane. That’s why we’re always delighted when a new one is announced or released. The next Megane will debut in September, and we can’t wait. To hold us over, we thought we’d have a look at some of the things this car is going to offer new buyers. We don’t think you’re going to be disappointed.
A Flash Of Curb Appeal
Straight away you’ll notice that Renault has made significant changes to the design of the Megane. It’s a little bulkier and not quite as compact, but it’s still a stunning hatch. There’s a huge grill at the front leading up to a stylised bonnet. It’s headlights look sharp, cutting deep into the bodywork of the car, they curve around each side beautifully. There’s a great sweeping windscreen that will almost give you the perfect view of blue skies while you’re driving. All in all, we’re impressed with the changes that have been made to the design.
How Much?
We think this is one of the most important questions you’re considering. Just how much is this beautiful car going to cost you? Well that hasn’t been confirmed yet. But we’d be hard pressed to believe Renault will charge anywhere close to thirty thousand. Somewhere near to twenty-five seems like a good bet with the price steadily increasing for souped up models. You can have a look at a company like Carco Group for the type of prices you should expect from Renault.
Breathing Room
This renault does look a little bigger on the outside to the hatch we’ve seen before. We think that’s all to do with the comfort for the driver and the passengers. Once you get inside, you’ll see you get a lot more room than you’re probably used to for a hatch. In fact you’d be forgiven for thinking you were sitting in an estate. The design work continues on the interior as well. From the beautiful dashboard with a touchscreen display, we think you’ll be pleased with what this car offers.
Tech
For the tech geeks, it’s all about that little cluster screen next to the steering wheel. Unlike some other cars we won’t mention, this screen is more than big enough to see everything you need easily. Think around the size of an Ipad Mini. You’ll be just about there. The pad is easy to navigate too with colourful displays that make checking everything from efficiency to petrol levels easy.
Performance
The 1.2 litre engine the standard model comes equipped with packs a shockingly powerful punch. Drivers are going to love the way it feels on the road. It’s no match for the Volkswagen Gti but we never expected it to be. That said, the GT Megane might just about measure up. If you can afford it, it’s an upgrade that you may want to look into.
Judging by the current reviews, we think the Megane is going to be a fun drive, in line with the previous models. But until we get our hands on it, we won’t know for sure.
